Biography

Wally Fawkes came to England from Vancouver, British Columbia at the age of seven. He was a bandleader as well as a clarinetist and saxophonist, and was co-founder of the Humphrey Littleton Band. He commenced his career as a cartoonist after the Second World War, joining the “Daily Mail” in 1945, and worked for a number of newspapers and magazines. Fawkes adopted the name of ‘Trog’ for his cartoons. He started the ‘Flook’ strip in 1949 under such story-writers as Sir Compton Mackenzie and later with George Melly, Barry Norman and Barry Took.
