Biography

The Garrick Club’s only painting by Henry Morland is a copy of a large canvas by Nathaniel Dance. Redgrave described Moreland politely as ‘a man of unsettled habits.’ In fact, he was intermittently picture dealer, restorer, mezzotint engraver, forger and bankrupt. He was the son of George Henry Morland and the father of George Morland. Some of his subject pictures proved popular in mezzotint engraving.
