Feliks Topolski was born at Czenslochova in Poland in 1907. He studied at the Warsaw Academy of Art under T. Pruszkowski. He specialized in book illustration and caricature. Topolski came to London in 1935, later producing a great deal of propaganda material during the Second World War. He became a British citizen in 1947 and painted the ‘Cavalcade of Commonwealth’ for the Festival of Britain in 1951. He died in 1989.
