Irish actor who played in Ireland, Scotland, and the English provinces before appearing in 1852 in London at the Haymarket as Hamlet. Appeared as Benedick opposite Helen Faucit's Beatrice in 'Much Ado About Nothing' at the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon, in 1879.
