Biography

Upon being demobbed McCarthy enrolled at Leicester College of Art where he specialised in sculpture. A scholaship took him to the Royal College of Art where he studied under Frank Dobson, who he would later assist whilst establishing his own studio. He worked principally alongside London architects providing sculptures within new built environments. He also taught and later became principal lecturer in the schools of architecture of the North East London Polytechnic. In 1984 he retired from London and removed his studio to a renovated farm in the South of France, from where he ccontinues to sculpt and paint.
