Biography

Clint had a varied career, starting as apprentice to a fishmonger and progressing through employment in an attorney’s office to becoming a house painter. He painted the stones of the arches in the nave of Westminster Abbey. In his forties, his studio in Gower Street drew actors and actresses as a result of his having painted a number of dramatic scenes, among which is the Club’s portrayal of William Farren, Charles Farley and Richard Jones in ‘The Clandestine Marriage’. He also executed a number of theatrical single portraits. Apart from his paintings, he was known as a mezzotint engraver. He was elected A.R.A. in 1821.
