The sitter has powdered hair with feathers and a big pink ribbon. Her identity is uncertain, but there are similarities to Downman's 1787 portrait of Elizabeth Farren in the National Portrait Galley and a miniature of the same sitter by Cosway in the collection of the Earl of Derby, exh: R. A. 1956-57 (274), watercolour on ivory 6.7 x 5.7.
