Shylock, wielding knife and scales, wears brown shoes, red stockings, long baggy purple knee-breeches, and a long purple coat with gold buttons.
Kean made his mature début at Drury Lane as Shylock on 26 January 1814. His début at Covent Garden on 15 October 1817 was also as Shylock.
