Lady Giovanna wears a dark red velvet dress; a pink damask band around the bust is decorated in gold with green jewels.
Tennyson's slow-moving symbolistic drama was performed for the first time on 18 December 1879, at the St James's Theatre. The play was privately printed for the author in 1879, and was published with “The Cup” in 1882. See also G0820.
