Possibly owned by John Pritt Harley; sold at auction of the effects of Harley, 23rd November, 1858 by Mr Robins (lot.186); By 1871 it is in the collection of W C Evans, whose Chairman and Conductor of Music at Evan's Hall was succeeded by an actor at the Old English Opera House, John or Paddy Green; sold by him at a sale at Christies, Manson and Woods, 22 July 1871, lot 86 (as by Lonsdale), bought by Routledge (for 1 1/2 gns); given to the Brooklyn Museum, New York by Hon. Ehas A Schuren, 1913; de-accessioned by them; collection of Jane Johnson from 1994, from whom purchased by the Garrick Club, 2003
