It is described as "a series of full-length portraits, depicting favorite characters of the Romantic Drama, as made familiar to the public by celebrated actors." It was published in London by Kegan Paul, Trench, Trubner & Co., Ltd. Paternoster House, Charing Cross Road, W.C. in 1900. The front of the portfolio is marked "H.B x H.J" in small letters in black ink.
