Literature
E. J. Pyke “A Biographical Dictionary of Wax Modellers” (1973), p. 52 pl. 103 (e.g. in Royal Collection)
The wax, of which two examples are recorded (in the Royal Collection and Christie's 11 December 1978 lot 134), is based on a small portrait bust drawn and engraved by J. K. Sherwin. It is a tentative work and is likely to have been produced shortly after Sherwin finished his apprenticeship with Bartolozzi in 1774.
