'George Inn / Winchester' to 'Miss N. Ogle / 1 Orchard Buildings / Southampton': 'My Dear Malta, Here we are arrived from Farnham where we spent last night - ... We shall try to be in Southampton early - but not I think with any view to move to Cowes till Monday ...'.
'Malta' and 'Miss Ogle' remain untraced; Sheridan's second wife was Hester Ogle, sister of Nathaniel Ogle (d. 1813) and his son Nathaniel (1797-1856) and her sisters were resident in Southampton at that period.
