Scope and content
Playbill for a performance at the Princess's Theatre,28 April 1856. The first piece was 'The Victor Vanquished', followed by 'The Winter's Tale' with Charles Kean as Leontes. The playbill has three sections, the first of which is an account of 'The Winter's Tale' and his production by Charles Kean. The performance was a benefit for Mr and Mrs Charles Kean. It also marks the debut of the actress Ellen Terry, then aged nine, in the role of Leontes's son Mamillius.
