Scope and content
Copy of an order from the Lord Chamberlain forbidding Lincoln's Inn Fields actors from "Deserting & Quitting the Company" without due notice. Dated 16 April 1695 and probably issued by Charles Sackville, who was Lord Chamberlain from 1689 to 1697.
Immediate source of acquisition
Red stamp at end of text reads "Forte Scutum Salus Ducum". Text and central image reference the coat of arms and motto of the Fortescue family and therefore the item may have come frm a private collection.
