Biography
The son of an artist, William Capon was born in Norwich. In his early life he practised as a portrait painter. After moving to London he was employed on the decorations for Ranelagh Gardens and the Italian Opera-house. Later he was employed by John Kemble as scene painter for the Drury Lane Theatre which had been rebuilt in 1794. He exhibited at the Royal Academy and was also known as a celebrated architectural draughtsman.
