Biography
A painter of historical subjects, Edwards was employed by Boydell to make drawings from old masters for his many publications; he also painted a subject from "The Two Gentlemen of Verona" for Boydell. He was appointed teacher of perspective at the Royal Academy in 1788, a position he held until his death. In 1808 he published his "Anecdotes of Painters", intended as a supplement to Walpole, but was decried for being "too accurate" in his facts.
