Biography

Louisa Sharpe was one of four artist sisters, all daughters of William Sharpe, a Birmingham engraver. About 1816 the father brought them to London, where the family apparently lived in Covent Garden. Louisa began her career as a miniature painter, exhibiting at the Royal Academy from 1817 to 1829. In 1834 she married Professor Wolgemut Seyffart and went to live with him in Dresden, but she continued to exhibit at the Old Watercolour Society until 1842.
