Biography
Actor. Made his first public appearance at the Strand Theatre in 1852, and played regularly at the Strand from 1855-1862, followed by appearances at the Prince of Wales's 1865-66 and the Globe from 1868-70. In 1873 married Teresa Furtado. (See W. Davenport Adams. A Dictionary of the Drama. London: Chatto & Windus, 1904).

Not to be confused with his contemporary, American actor-manager John Sleeper Clarke.
