Biography
Russian actress associated with Moscow's Maly Theatre. She was honoured with the titles Meritorious Artist of the Imperial Theatres, People's Artist of the Republic, and Hero of Labour (1924). She was a personal friend and teacher of Konstantin Stanislavski. She had 29 parts in Alexander Ostrovsky’s plays, with at least two roles being specifically written for her.
