Biography
Raphael Maklouf was born in Jerusalemm and emigrated to Britain with his parents after World War II. Maklouf studied at the Camberwell School of Arts before becoming a lecturer and was later made a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and an Associate of the Royal Society of British Sculptors. Maklouf's portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II appeared on UK coins from 1985 to 1998.
