Biography
Benjamin Lewis Vulliamy was born in 1780 into a family of celebrated clockmakers. His father, Benjamin, was admitted to the Freedom of the Clockmakers' Company in 1781 and became Clockmaker to George III. His grandfather, Justin, worked in Pall Mall from 1730-1790 and made a great many watches and clocks examples of which can be seen at the Guildhall and the Science Museum. In his turn, Benjamin Lewis Vulliamy was admitted to Freedom of the Clockmaker's company in 1809 and became the royal clockmaker. He died in 1854.
