Biography
Robert West was dubbed ‘parent of the arts in Dublin,’ where he founded the first ‘School of Design.’ although little is now known of him apart from a supposition that he studied in Paris under Boucher and Van Loo. The Garrick Club’s chalk drawing, with its signed inscription, appears to be the only work that can be ascribed to him with any confidence.
