Biography
Sarah Tyrer, a pupil of Kelly and Mrs Crouch, performed in the concerts at the Rotunda in Dublin and appeared on the London stage in the early years of the nineteenth century. She made her debut at Drury Lane on 21 May 1801 as Fidelia in “The Pirates” and then sang as Madge in “Love in a Village”. Her most famous character was Queen Dollalolla in “Tom Thumb”, in which De Wilde depicts her (G0439). When Liston (whom she had married in 1807) took his leave of Covent Garden on 31 May 1822, Mrs Liston, who was acting infrequently by then, retired. (DNB)
