Biography
In O’Neil’s painting (1869) of a scene in the Billiards Room, the figure numbered 5 in the key is Charles William White, MP, who was also a member of the Fusilier Guards. When he completed his candidate’s application for membership in the Garrick Club White gave his rank as Lieutenant Colonel and his address as Belgrave Square. He was elected to the Garrick Club in March 1864.
