"John Philip Kemble as The Inspired Poet", "John Kemble as the Inspired Poet Painted by R Westall R.A.", "John Kemble, born at Prescot, Lancs. 1757 was manager of an itinerant company chiefly performing in Warwickshire and Staffordshire, was educated at Douay, France. His first appearance was in London 1783 as Hamlet. He left the stage in 1817 and retired to Lausanne, Switzerland where he died in 1823."
