Harry Locke appeared in 1959 as Mr. Justice Squeezum in Lock up your Daughters at The Mermaid Theatre in London; and it was from this appearence that Ruskin Spear painted this portrait. Harry Locke was in fact Ruskin Spears's landlord and so they knew each other very well.
