This oil sketch by George Clint depicts the actor, and early member of the Garrick Club, William Dowton as Falstaff. The actor is posed as if awakening from a deep sleep. There is also a sketch of Dowton with George Smith as Bardolph in Henry IV part 1, by Clint in Bristol Museums and Art Gallery.
