Cartoon of a scene from Uncle Vanya, with Antony Sher as Mikhail Lvovich Astrov and Ian McKellen as Ivan Petrovitch Voynitsky performed at the Cottesloe Theatre, a National Theatre house that was renamed to Dorfman Theatre in 2014.
The drawing was featured in Punch Magazine issue: 11 March 1992 and drawn by William (Bill) Hewison who was Art Editor and created multiple theatre cartoons for Punch magazine.
Uncle Vanya is a play by the Russian playwright Anton Chekhov. It was first published in 1898, and was first produced in 1899 by the Moscow Art Theatre. Mikhail Lvovich Astrov is the Uncle Vanya's philosopher, and Ivan Petrovich Voynitsky, or Vanya is the hero of the play.
