Etching of Charles Dibdin (1745-1818) as 'The Chaunting Orator'. Dibdin is shown full length holding in a script in one hand labelled "Wags / Oddities". A piano and candelabra to the left.
Dibdin was a composer and actor, known for one-man musical performances. He gave his "Oddities" at the Lyceum Theatre in London for 109 nights in 1790.
The artist and engraver are unknown. A copy is also found at the British Museum.
