This print two gentlemen seated either side of a table. Liston as Adam Brock wears a brown coat with a green waistcoat and blakc leggings. The other wears military uniform. Mr Liston is attempting to light a pipe with a candle. William Farren as Charles XII holds a note in his fist.
According to Professor Jim Davis in his book 'Comic Acting and Portraiture', he syas the two are depicted seated arguing over a note which "Adam had formerly been promised by the King for money advanced". There is apparently a painting by George Clint of this exact scene, which was exhibted at The British Institution in 1830, but the whereabouts are unknown. Other prints like this one survive, but do not cite Clint as their source.
