This print depicts the actors John S. Clarke and Charles Harcourt, as Bob Acres and Captain Absolute in Sheridan's The Rivals. It was performed at the Charing Cross Theatre in 1872, which was managed by Mr Clarke. Both are depicted full length. Bob Acres stands with a long coat with a cape, a whip in one hand and a pair of gloves in the other. He wears a top hat and riding boots. On the right is Captain Absolute wearing military uniform of red white and gold. He has one hand on his sword and gestures towards his compantion with the other. This illustration appeared in The Graphic, 14 December 1872.
