This engraving depicts the actor William Thomas Lewis as the Marquis from the play 'The Midnight House' by Elizabeth Inchbald. It depicts the actor half lenth wearing a lace collar, with once hand on his hip and a hat with a feather tucked under his arm. In the background is a column and a curtain. The play was first performed in 1787.
