Print of John Quick as Don Lewis in Act V, Scene II of Colley Cibber's play, 'Love Makes a Man', which was written and first performed in 1700. Quick was among the most acclaimed comic actors of his generation.
Quick is shown wearing a 18th century style Spanish aristocrat costume consisting of a black and gold doublet, shirt and breeches, with a short cloak, gold buckled black shoes, black hat with gold feather, fencing sword on his side, and holds a walking stick in his right hand. He is in a house interior, a door on his right and a gold framed mirror behind him on his left. The scene is in an oval frame, surrounded by black and white lines.
Engraved by Philip Audinet after a painting by Samuel de Wilde.
