This print depicts the comedian John Liston in the character of Pompey the Clown in Shakespeare's 'Measure for Measure'. The print is after the painting by Samuel De Wilde (see G0434). Liston is depicted half length, and looks to the left. Pompey wears a small black hat, a doublet, brown sleeveless jacket and an apron around his waist.Pompey's hands are slightly raised .
