This print depicts the comedian John Liston in the role of Tristram Sappy in Poole's play 'Deaf as a Post'. He is depicted full length, wearing blue and white striped trousers and a waistcoat, and a blue coat. A yellow handkerchief is stuck into his back pocket. On his head he wears a black top hat. His right hand is in his pocket and the left hand is placed near his mouth.
