Print depicting Fanny Stirling (1815-1895) as Mrs. Malaprop in Richard Brinsley Sheridan's 'The Rivals', at the Vaudeville Theatre, 9 December 1882. Signed by the artist Jack. The image was originally produced from a photograph by The Bijou Photo Studios, printed by Charles Goodall & Son Ltd., and issued as supplement No.7 to London Society Magazine, 17 February 1883. In 1883, a series of 52 so-called Bijou Portraits printed by Charles Goodall & Son Ltd. was issued weekly, from 6 January to 29 December 1883, with facsimile signatures and quotations relating to the subject, as a supplement to the Saturday weekly London Society Magazine. The images were mostly of theatrical personalities but included other personalities of the day including a jockey, royalty, artists and authors.
