This is a print depicts the actor and comedian, John Liston alongside the actress and manager Eliza Vestris. They are depicted full length, situated within a colonnade in a square. Liston wears a blue dress and a red cap, Vestris wears a pink dress and a blue cap. They both are holding rushes and twigs to make brooms behind their backs which can just be seen above their shoulders. They both appear to be mid step of a dance with one foot slightly forward. Their heads are turned to the middle towards each other.
John Liston perfomed the song 'Buy a Broom' for the benefit night of Madame Vestris on the 6th of November 1826 at the Haymarket Theatre. Liston provided comedy by performing as a woman.
