This print depicts the actor John Emery in his role as Farmer Ahsfield in the play 'Speed the Plough', by Thomas Morton. Emery is depicted half length, wearing a white wig, a jacket, a patterned waistcoat and a cravat. He looks slightly to the right andin his left hand he holds a walking stick. The picture is set within a printed frame, surmounted by masks, a lyre, and a marionnette at the top.
