This print depicts the actor and comedian John Bannister in the role of Don Whiskerandos in 'The Critic'. He stands full length, turned towards the left, with his right hand raised in the air. He wears striped breeches, doublet, ruffed collar, cloak and a feathered hat. This is possible a proof before letters. The image was used as an illustration to Cawthorn's 'Minor British Theatre'.
