This is not a photograph but a postcard sized reproduction of a drawing of Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree as Austin Limmason in Rudyard Kipling's 'The Man who Was'. The main character is an English Officer captured during the Crimean War who manages to escape imprisonment after twenty years. This promotional card seems to be advertising an engagement at The Palace Theatre in 1912.
