Hand-coloured bromide photographic postcard depicting Dame Gladys Cooper, seemingly not in character. She is in full length, wears a long off white dress, dark red jacket with open white lapels, long beaded white necklace, white short-heeled shoes, a dark pink hat, and holds the strap of a dark green clasped bag. She stands against a predominantly white backdrop with green leaves and looks towards the camera. There is a white border of imprinted flowers.
The reverse has a message addressed to Mildred from Dorothy, and is dated 9 September 1924.

Gladys Cooper (1888-1971) was a celebrated actress of the stage and screen, with a career spanning seven decades. She was renowned for her beauty; she became a photographic model in the early 1900s and was famous for her appearance on many picture postcards of the time. Postcards were cheap and reliable and were bought not just to send messages but to keep as souvenirs.
