Photograph depicting Mrs Fanny Stirling as the Nurse and Mary Anderson as Juliet in 'Romeo and Juliet', taken by W.& D. Downey c.1885 and published by Cassell & Company Ltd, 1890. Formed part of 'The Cabinet Portrait Gallery' series of photographs by W.& D. Downey, published between 1890-1894. They are both depicted half-length; Stirling is seated facing the right, she wears a long billowy sleeved white shirt with white emboidered cuffs and dark material wrapped around, and a plain dark headscarf with white wavy trim. Anderson is bending over Stirling and has her arms wrapped round her while looking towards the viewer, she wears a long-sleeved heavily embroidered dress.
