Postcard depicting actor and actor-manager Sir Henry Irving as the Vicar Dr. Primrose in 'Olivia', the 1885 stage adaptation of Oliver Goldsmith's novel 'The Vicar of Wakefield' at the Lyceum Theatre, London. Irving is depicted three-quarter length, seated at a desk holding a pen and paper, and he looks towards the viewer. He wears a single-breasted jacket with buttons on the cuff, a white shirt, buttoned up waistcoat, breeches, and spectacles.
