Postcard depicting Sir Henry Irving as the Vicar Dr. Primrose and Miss Ellen Terry as Olivia, his daughter, in 'Olivia', the 1885 stage adaptation of Oliver Goldsmith's novel 'The Vicar of Wakefield' at the Lyceum Theatre, London. Irving and Terry are depicted three-quarter length and standing together in a garden setting. Irving wears a single-breasted jacket with buttons on the cuff, a white shirt, buttoned up waistcoat, and breeches. Terry wears a floor-length white dress with ruched trim, three-quarter length sleeves with layered ruffles, matching headpiece, beaded necklace, and holds a small bouquet.
The reverse has a message to Mr. F. H. Plimley and is postmarked 19 November 1905.
