Carte-de-visite depicting artist John Leech. He is depicted full length and sitting on a bookshelf facing the right. He wears a jacket, trousers, waistcoat, white shirt, tie and pocket watch. His left hand is in his trouser pocket and his right hand rests on the bookshelf. There is a small pedastal table to his left.
On the reverse is a print of Leech sitting on a chair with a pen in his right hand, and handwritten in pencil: "John Leech caricaturist".
