An engraving by an unidentified artist captioned "JOHANN REINHOLD FORSTER / JOHANN GEORG FORSTER"; this engraving is also the source for a portrait medallion of Forster, modelled by Joachim Smith for Wedgwood 1776 [an example of which is in the Nottingham Museum and Art Gallery], and illustrated in Robin Reilly, "Wedgwood Portrait Medallions" (National Portrait Gallery, London 1973) No.33. See B0136
Once believed to be a possible portrait of David Garrick. However the profile does not resemble Garrick's, despite the sagging chin. The sitter has now been identified as the naturalist Johann Reinhold Forster.
