This print, depicts the clown Joseph Grimaldi, dressed in an exagerated Hussar's costume, which he wore for the pantomime of 1812, called 'Harlequin and the Red Dwarf; or Adamant Rock'. He wears large coal scuttles for boots, oversized spurs which were said to have been made from brass plates, a ladies muff formed the hussar's hat, and on his face sports a long moustache. He is seen throwing a tiny Naopleon Bonaparte into the open mouth of a bear.
The scene is a satire on Napoleon's campaigns in Russia.
