Photograph depicting actor John Clarke who played regularly at the Strand Theatre from 1855-1862. He is depicted full length in front of a landscape backdrop. He rests his left leg on a balustrade and faces the viewer. He wears a black morning suit jacket with waistcoat, white shirt, cravat, trousers and black shoes. He holds a cane in both hands and rests it on the balsutrade next to a black top hat.
